Who am I?
Who I am depends on who you talk to.
First and foremost I’m a wife to my best friend. We’ve been married for thirty four years now which is a bit of a surprise because I’m only twenty one. How we have stayed together all these years is a mystery to me. Most of the time we aren’t on the same page. Hell, most of the time we aren’t on the same book. When it comes to the things that matter though we are always in agreement. Is that what makes a happy marriage, sharing the same core values?
To my kids I’m Mum, with all that entails. No matter how old your children get, you’ll still worry about them. When I was a young mum I used to hear that comment and think what a load of tosh. How wrong can you be? I fret about my kids all the time.
To some little and not so little people I’m Nanny. Yup I’m old enough to have grandchildren. They’ll pop up from time to time, they’re collective known as The Clingons because they cling on – geddit?
To the people who know me well I’m a bit scatty and can be reduced to tears of laughter with very little effort. Amazingly, I usually manage to hide these little factoids when I’m working. To people who don’t know me I am told that I am completely unable to hide the fact that I don’t suffer fools gladly and can come across as a bit scary.
To my dog I’m playmate, head chef, walker, dance partner, yup, he’s a dancing dog, and constant companion.
This blog won’t ever be filled with literary genius, not unless I start putting quotes from other people in it, I’m not clever enough for that. It’s just my place to write down my future memories, the tales of my ordinary life and the extraordinary people I share it with. I hope you enjoy reading it as much as I enjoy writing it.
